SULTAN OMAR ALI SAIFUDDIEN MOSQUE

The Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. One of Brunei landmark. Located at the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan. Built and completed in1958. Was built by the 28th sultan of Brunei, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien.




KAMPONG AYER( WATER VILLAGE)

Kampong Ayer, or the Water Village (Malay: Kampong Ayer) is an area of Brunei's capital city Bandar Seri Begawan that is situated Brunei Bay. 39,000 people live in the Water Village. This represents roughly ten percent of the nation's total population. All of the Water Village buildings are constructed on stilts above the Brunei River.

Situated at the first floor of the Arts And Handicraft Centre, this is a place where you can have a good Malay Food while enjoying the view of Kampong Ayer. They provide daily buffet lunch and dinner of bruneian cuisine, including Ambuyat.

THE INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE

The International Convention Centre, shortly known as the ICC, is the largest meeting venue in Brunei Darussalam. It has made the country capable of hosting high profiled events and to name the few - ASEAN Ministers Meetings (AMM), Asia-Pacific Economic Conference (APEC 2000) and ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2001).

Special Occasions

His Majesty Birthday Celebration

On every 15th July, His Majesty the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will be celebrating his Birthday. The celebration will officially begin with a grand parade and marching by the various branches of the defence force as well as proud civilian organizations. It begins at Taman Sir Sultan Haji Omar Ali saifuddien, located in the very heart of Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei capital.

Brunei National Day Celeberation

Held every 23rd of february. The celebration will officialy begin with a grand parade at Taman Sir Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien.


Finding your feet

Buses

There are 6 bus routes servicing the BSB area; the central line, Circle Line, Eastern Line, Southern Line, Western Line and Northern Line.

There are not many taxis around but metered taxis are available from most hotels, shoping centres and the airport.

Water Taxis:
Unique to Brunei, the water taxis are the most common means of transportation at Kampong Ayer.
Fares: Standard ride costs about BND 1.

Regular boat service to Temburong operates between 745am to 4pm daily

Ferry Services:
Passanger ferry services to the Malaysian Town of Labuan operates between 7am to 4pm and departs fro the Serasam terminal in Muara Town. Jouney takes about 45 minutes.
